Trip through the project

Posted on

Hi guys! Today in my post I tell you about my feelings and about my “stops” in this project.

I started my trip on 5th of June. My first stop was in Latvia, when I said goodbye to my grandparents. I am often not at home, and I live in a dormitory, but I have never been away from them for 2 months. They know that I am independent and that I am “big”, but they are still worried about me. Next stop was the Latvian Airport where I met my 3 project members Christel, Ebony and Maksim. They are from Estonia. Christel is really smart and full of ideas, from whom I can learn, because I am younger, and I don’t have so big experience. Then there is Maksim, who, as I found out, is a good drawer. I like drawing in my free time, but I’m not good in that, so this is my chance to ask him something about that and learn something new, to get my free time interesting. It was my first travel with airplane, so in first day I got new and really good experience. Every time with me is another Latvian volunteer, Toms, who helps me with his life experience and mainly with language. I am really patriotic, that is my reason why I don’t like learning other languages, but now I know that English is very important language, and I don’t know it so good to say everything that I want to share. So, I’m really happy that I have some really smart people with me who can help me. My next stop was in Italy, when I met Barbara and go to volunteer house and there met Pancho, Jan, Adrian and Eda. Pancho is a really positive person, and I like that he is “deep in project”, I mean, he takes everything serious, but in the same time he doesn’t lose positivism. I am really happy to see how Adrian is diligent. I think in world we need more people like him. From him I can learn how to overcome the fear of making mistakes. And of course dogs! Actually, I have big fear of dogs, but this two are really cute. They show me how good dogs look like, and I don’t need to be afraid of them. Few days later I met my mentors. Eda I see in the first day, but I met yet Eva and Massimo. Eda always knows what say in right moment to get better mood and more inspiration to work. And her love for dogs is so funny. Eva has survived what we are now living in. She shares her experience and it is really useful. And Masimo ekh, (it’s food ekh), he is so good teacher and so positive person. If all world teachers be like Masimo, I think, I started to love school. My next stop was somewhere on Rome streets. That chaotic traffic, OMG, it’s something so new for me. I think, it’s easy to drive with a car, but not here. And as I found out now, there is lot of people, like Eda, who use bike to move around Rome. How it is possible in this traffic? I live in village, where drive max 10 cars each day. Or in city where I study, there is lot of cars, but everywhere is the traffics lights, and if there is just a pedestrian crossing, that usually cars stops and I can safely cross the road, but here I need just run. Actually, it’s fun. My next learning stop was in shop. Everytime I need to figure out what is real product, and it’s a good way how learn Italian. Monday I was in PIM (supermarket), and try to find kefir. (It’s italian word). Worker in shop say me to they don’t have that word in Italian. I told him, to I saw in LIDL bottle where is write – kefir, but still he try to persuade that there is no that word in Italian. My next stops is all interviews. Each of people what we interview is special, and they all are so smart and so inspiring. I really like what Maura says about what is independent living, she said to us that we need to use brains, not legs and arms, to achieve a destination. Now I work with transcription and translation to Latvian. And it’s one more good way how learn language.

Still three and a half weeks to make a lot of different stops and then slowly go home and meet my friends and family after which I very miss. See you soon guys in next post.
