Secrets of Rome

Posted on

If you ask a person who speaks to you about Rome the first thing he will tell you is something about the Colosseo or the Vatican. And yes, they are many sites worth visiting but these 2 months I have discovered other sites that -although less known- are just as incredible.

To begin with, I can talk about the immense park in Villa Borghese with clean air. A huge park to walk and let yourself get lost in for an entire afternoon and to end the day with a boat ride through the small but at the same time beautiful lake that you can find there.

Another place worth seeing is the thermal baths of Caracalla, these great baths in the past hosted the most powerful people for a relax bath and that at present it is still possible to observe the greatness that at that time had to be.

Also the small monuments that for me are imposible to forget, as la Bocca della Verita, walking through the Circus Maximus where in the past horse races were held, millions of churches that I cannot even name because Rome is the city of the churches and they all are incredible, the pyramid that is on the out of the old city walls, the Ostiense Train Station that was built for Hitler –which obviously is not the best but it still is part of the history.

Nor can we forget the Trevi Fountain, the steps of Piazza Spagna, the Vittorio Emanuele monument, Piazza Navona or the Pantheon but to finish, I want to talk about a place that for me is magical. It is the Giardino degli Aranci (the Orange Gardens) where you have a beautiful view of Rome. Also one of the biggest secrets that you are told or you will hardly find it, Bocca della Serratura, where you can look through a small lock of a door and see a large garden and in the background The Vatican from kilometers away.

For now for me these are the secrets of Rome but possibly find more in the coming days since, every day I see something new. Until next time I will still be exploring Rome.
